Great Weather for May Meeting

After what seems like continuous weekends of rainy weather, the sun finally came out today for the May meeting of MAAG. Dick and Diane Curtis were the hosts, seen here with their terrific Fokker Tri-Plane replica. We gathered in their immaculate hanger for tender beef brisket and lots of tasty sides and deserts. Thanks again for hosting!

As you will see in the posts below, we had about 8 airplanes fly in with a total of about 35 members present. We also had a tour of the PT-19 restoration underway!

PT-19 Restoration Project

Below are the wings of the PT-19. No work has been done on them yet. We were told they are in considerably better shape than the fuselage was. All we can imaging is just how bad that must have been! As you can see, the picture on the right is the rebuilt fuselage (inverted). Definitely some craftsmanship involved here!

The 200 HP Ranger engine, seen above, was hiding in another hangar waiting its turn for rebuilding.

A Quick Fairchild 24R

Our chapter president, Steve Quick, and his wife Carol arrived in style at the fly-in in their Fairchild 24R.

Shiny Cessna 120

John and Judy Kliewer flew their highly polished Cessna 120 to the fly-in. John also made a few passes down the runway for the crowd.

Other Members who Flew In

Above is a Wiebe homebuilt and a 1946 Navion owned by Spencer Atha. To the left is a 1969 Nanchang CJ-6A.

More Airplanes!

Above left is Terry Burger's very nice 1959 V-tail K35 Bonanza. Right is Wayne Borman's Cessna 150. A Sonex also flew in and provided a few low passes down the runway for the crowd.
