May MAAG Event at Rucker Field
The May meeting of the MAAG was hosted by Steve and Roxane Turner at Rucker Field today with lots of help from their friends. After a little overnight rain, the skies were clear and cooled by a northerly wind. Approximately 40 people attended the event. Seven airplanes flew in. Chicken with many side dishes and deserts were enjoyed by all.
New members who joined today included Hector Camacho and Sam Snyder. We learned Ed Merkel, who passed away recently, has been accepted into Arlington National Cemetery for burial on July 23. A check for $500 was also donated by MAAG to support the Kansas Aviation Museum (KAM) as they recover from last month's tornado damage. Walt House was on hand to accept the check for KAM.
Next month we will gather in Halstead on June 16 to celebrate the silver anniversary of Gus Wiebe's 65th birthday. See you then!

Rucker Field is the MAAG Destination this Sunday
The May MAAG meeting will be hosted at Rucker Field (SN34) in Clearwater, KS on May 20th at 1:00PM.
The runway is located about 6 miles SW of ICT and the tower requests you give them a call and let them know you will be operating in the area. You can come in under the veil of the controlled airspace, but are operating on the fringe and they would like a heads up.
For driving directions you can Mapquest your way to:
13149 WEST 63RD ST SOUTH
CLEARWATER, KS 67026
A covered dish meal is planned by hosts Steve and Roxanne. They will provide a mystery meat guaranteed to please and drinks, so surprise us with a side dish or desert and we will all have a good time. Bring a guest!
