January MAAG Planning Event a Success
About 40 members of MAAG gathered today at the home of Steve and Carol Quick to enjoy a "picnic in January" and also plan some of the various fun things we will do throughout the year. Steve is pictured at the early stages of cooking hamburgers and dogs. The anti-fire bottle stands at the ready. As always, Steve did a superb job at the grill and others contributed some tasty side dishes.The following is a tentative plan for 2010:

Memorial Day (Monday) Rucker Airfield Fly-In sponsored by the Turners and the Quicks
June: Gus Wiebe Birthday Bash at Wiebe Airfield at Halstead
July 11, 4:00 PM, Quick's hangar, Rucker Airfield
August 14, 8th annual MAAG Fly-In at Wiebe Airfield at Halstead
September 13, Phil Ciholas Eagle Airfield Hangar Party
October 10, 1:00 PM, Randy & Debbie Shields' Home/Hangar at Benton Airfield (house warming)
November: Open
December: Christmas Party at ????
We also talked about some potential places for a fly out including:

Hutchinson Airport Restaurant and Salt Mine or Cosmosphere tour

Beaumont Hotel Restaurant
Bob Vasey Airfield west of Hutch

Mayday! Meeting Canceled for this Weekend!
Due to the unusually cold weather, the decision has been made to postpone this Sunday's meeting for a week. So, see you on the 17th. Please help get the word out in case folks don't look at their e-mail or this blog (I know, hard to believe).

January Meeting at the Quick's Home
A "July picnic in January" is the theme for the next MAAG meeting...indoors of course. Here are the particulars:Date: Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM

The Quicks are on the corner of Reflection Road and Reflection Road Court, 2 blocks west of Ridge. It is easiest to enter from Ridge Road at the Reflection Road entrance between 21st and 29th streets. They are on the corner of a short cul de sac. Please feel free to park in the driveway, in the cul de sac, or on Reflection Road.
There will be grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats. Please bring a side dish: beans, chips, salad, etc or desert. There will be iced tea and a selection of soft drinks and beer.
A short meeting will be held in which we will set the schedule for the 2010 MAAG meeting locations and hosts.
We look forward to seeing you next Sunday! Looks like the weather will be cooperating and providing sunshine, but a little chilly. Please feel free to wear shorts and Hawaiian shirts if you dare!
