Hutchinson MAAG Fly-Out Successful

The Kansas Mid America Antique Airplane Group (MAAG) gathered in Hutchinson, Kansas today for a buffet lunch at the Airport Steakhouse.  About 34 members and 13 airplanes made the trek from various points around the Kansas area.  For mid November, the weather cooperated mostly, though very light showers passed through the area during lunch.  The visibilities and clouds were more than acceptable for everyone to safely return home.  It was fun listening to the air traffic controller handle all the converging traffic, mostly from the south east, heading into Hutch.  Everything from a Bonanza to an Air Bike.  Of course, we offered a follow up challenge when we all left at about the same time.  The controller was great at his job as well as the staff at the Airport Steakhouse.  Hats off to Paul Fiebich (Air Bike) and Rich and Joey Giblin (Stearman) for enduring the cold in their open cockpits.

Happy Reunion

John Kliewer owns a really nice looking Cessna 140 that had its first flight on October 22, 1946.  The pilot in command of that flight was Mort Brown.  Following the flight, Mort made the first entry in N76446's log book.  Recently, Mort was reunited with N76446.  After reviewing the log books, Mort made another entry on the most recent empty page of the airframe log book page and then posed for a picture.  John commented he hoped to be in as good a shape at 75 as Mort is at age 102!
